I had the privilege in 1997 and 1998 to attend the kite-building workshops in Junction, Texas put on by professors Betty Street and Bill Lockhart. At one, I was honored to take a class from Robert Tepanier out of Ontario, Canada. As part of his intro, in a effort to make us feel free in our designs, he said he could make anything fly. I saw it as a challenge and came up this design of Robert flying a kite with a free floating head. And darn if he didn't make it fly.
The image is about 16 inches wide and 30 inches head to toe. The framework extends below the feet another two feet and there are two foot tails on the ends. It is made of a wonderful thin, translucent, red paper and framed in hand split bamboo. It hangs now on my wall beside my sewing machine as a reminder to continually stretch myself.
